About ClimeCo & Marsoft’s Partnership
ClimeCo and Marsoft have partnered to provide the shipping industry with a new incentive based on the value of CO2 emissions reduction in the voluntary carbon market. It will allow ship owners to install retrofits to improve fuel efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This new incentive solution is based on a program developed by Marsoft, called GreenScreen™. The Gold Standard carbon registry has accepted this program, which will accelerate the verification and issuance of carbon credits based on CO2 emissions reductions delivered by the shipowner’s retrofit program.
GreenScreen™ eliminates the costly, time-consuming, and unreliable analysis required to establish CO2 emissions reductions in the past. Developed in collaboration with the MIT Sea Grant Design Laboratory, GreenScreen™ is based on proven ship design and engineering principles and verified with tank test results. The program completes that analysis in days using only the vessel data in your files. The solution provides a highly accurate assessment of the benefits of the retrofit – the results are within 5% of the sea-trial results in 90% of the cases evaluated.
GreenScreen™ also limits the data reporting required to verify the emissions reduction recognized by the carbon registry. Speed, draft, and weather conditions are the only data points required to characterize a ship’s operational performance. ClimeCo and Marsoft manage this rigorous auditing process for shipowners, lowering the barrier to participation in the carbon credit process. An annual summary of total main engine fuel consumption validates the results.
ClimeCo’s environmental transaction team will use its deep and vast network and extensive environmental market experience to identify and market credit buyers to achieve premium value and high liquidity from the carbon credits generated through this program.
Project Development helps our clients evaluate, develop, and monetize their lower-carbon business processes to create value while advancing the energy transition. We bring a market approach to make sustainable solutions possible and economic for producers and consumers. We serve a wide variety of project types, from nature-based to heavy industry, because we believe they are all part of the solution.
